ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

At Food2Soil we believe that the goals of organics diversion cannot be attained by one approach or one entity. This task will need all hands on deck and tools of all sizes. We therefore want to share what we have learnt over the last 4 years to enable and empower community leaders all over California to make room for neighborhood scale composting in their policies and plans.

This workshop is for the
POLICY-MAKERS who wish they could take community composting for a test drive before making room for this approach in their city's Zero Waste planning.

It is for the
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS who wish they could take a deep dive into the regulatory, financial and operational realities of running a mid-scale composting program so that their venture would be poised to generate positive social, environmental and economic value for their community.

It is for those
FRANCHISE HAULERS & RECYCLERS who are interested in offering a community scale composting option to supplement their existing programs and deepen their connection with the communities they serve.

In this 1.5 day workshop we will dig deep into regulations, operations and financial planning required for running a successful community scale composting venture. We will also get our hands dirty by working and managing a community compost hub. Hope you'll join us for this workshop to take back a blueprint that includes neighborhood level composting in your city's, company's and community's journey to Zero Waste and Healthy Soil.

Worm Bin Building & Worm Composting Workshop
Check back for the next workshop to be held sometime in March 2019
We will start by checking on the worm bins, feeding the worms, troubleshooting issues and make sure bin conditions are optimum. We will learn about different ways to separate worms from their castings. We will end the workshop by building your personal worm bins. All material including worms will be provided.

We release a limited quantity of worms each month for this activity so make sure you register for the bin plus lesson so we reserve worms for your take home bin. If you already have a worm bin and are just looking for a refresher on worm composting then please register for the lesson only.

Each registered participant may bring one child under the age of 12 as long as they accompany the child at all times during the workshop.
